LANE
PREPAREDNESS
COALITION
The mission of Lane County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) is to bring together a broad array of community organizations to foster an effective response to the people of Lane County in times of disaster.
Lane Emergency Resource Network: To coordinate the response to COVID-19, Lane COAD is using a technology called the Lane Emergency Resource Network (LERN). The technology was developed for the 15th Night movement, in order to connect youth experiencing homelessness with resources from a network of providers.
Essentially, LERN automates the process of matching requests with resources. Any COAD member can send a request for a specific resource, and any members that have indicated they have that resource will receive an alert via text message and email. If a member can fill the request, they respond to the original requester. When the request has been filled, all members who received alerts will be notified.
Here is a short, 4-minute video explaining how the system works: In the terminology of the RAN, all COAD members will be added as both “advocates” and “providers.”
